The month that was at wildaboutazcats.com

Summer is typically a slow time for college news, but it wasn’t for Arizona. New coach Sean Miller continued to successfully hunt down recruits for next season, and the turmoil at USC shook loose two players that landed in Tucson in June.

Recruiting news — and all of the implications — were the main storylines for June, but there also was the intrigue of the NBA draft, with Jordan Hill becoming a lottery pick and Chase Budinger sliding to the second round.

In addition to that, wildaboutazcats.com was the home of lively discussion, in-depth posts from our readers, as well as exclusive analysis, research and interviews from the two guys who are trying to make this thing work on a daily basis.

In case you missed anything, here are the top 10 links from June:

1. June 24: Miller’s recruiting gains even more MoMo-mentum. (What the commitment of Lamont “MoMo” Jones means for Arizona)

2. June 16: Is it a “go” or a “no” for MoMo? (Breaking down the recruiting of Lamont Jones)

3. June 26: Miller talks about playing “small ball.” (Exclusive comments from the UA head coach about his history with short backcourts and small lineups)

4. June 27: Saturday notebook: Recruiting regional talent will become Miller’s priority. (Miller describes his recruiting philosophy, and other notes)

5. June 29: Pac-10 recruiting roundup: UA’s class ranks third. (Breaking down the hoops classes … and your chance to vote for Freshman of the Year)

6. June 8: Q&A of Those in the Know: Josh Pastner. (Exclusive interview with the ex-Cat and current Memphis head coach)

7. June 28: Williams’ focus: Getting Cats to their 26th straight NCAA tourney. (Derrick Williams talks about his commitment to UA)

8. June 19: Report: Martin is really interested in Arizona. (A discussion of recruit Justin Martin from the NBA Players Association Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville, Va.)

9. June 20: Opinion: O’Neill not a laughable hire for USC. (Trojans hire the man UA fans love to hate — ex-interim head coach Kevin O’Neill)

10. June 11: Who are the best Millers in Pac-10 history? (Take a look at the competition that awaits Sean Miller)

There was more — including an interview with the Voice of the Wildcats, Brian Jeffries, and a breakdown of the NBA salaries earned by players from the Lute Olson era ($631 million!).

Hope you enjoyed.

    Javy,

It must be a good thing when folks are hi-jacking your articles.

And to boot….they are hi-jacking evevn the comments.
I see articles running based on the comment discussions.

    Nice work.

    ——
In one of your articles, YOU discuss recruiting areas….

ONE Big area is the NW.
The NW has been and will be a Wildcat HOT BED.

So, it is critical for the Wildcats to come away with a top recruit in 2010.
The two main ones are Josh and JT.
JT seems to be open to the Wildcats and for some reason has Indiana rather high.
It must be the OLD Indiana BB history because anything in the last 5+ years has been UGLY, not worthy of any consideration.

If JT is into good BB history…..Arizona has a rich history and is becoming a PowerHouse.
Lets have JT be apart- witness- Mid Night Madness as well as Josh.

    Part II.
Miller also discusses recruiting the State.
    The best player is N.Johnson.
Funny to think…. that NJ had no idea of asu.
Arizona has been on him for years so, Miller should benefit from this long relationship.

    Note:
Lets set the RECORD straight…on Recruits for 2010.
Alot of talk has been made about ONLY three recruits.(PG,Wing,Center)
The 3 recruit discussion is for external use.- for internet play.
But, as an internal goal, FOUR is the target.
Miller is challenging the staff and admin….to make this happen.
    And I see this happening….
So, expect a TOP5 recruiting class in 2010.
(This means: time to play with the BIG BOYS.)

Will BOOK have another good recruiting YEAR??
