Loss of longtime UA office administrator significant
Please read Bruce Pascoe’s heartfelt story about Monica Armenta in today’s Arizona Daily Star.
Armenta, only 40, died of a brain tumor last week. She was a 21-year employee of the UA athletic department, including the last nine as the administrative assistant for the UA men’s basketball program.
“You can’t talk to anybody who ever had any contact with Monica that didn’t absolutely fall in love with her,” former UA associate head coach Jim Rosborough told Pascoe. “They adored Monica. She was special.”
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1800 N. Camino Pio Decimo, at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Attendees are invited to attend a light reception following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Monica Armenta’s name can be given to the Arizona Cancer Center, 1515 N. Campbell Ave. P.O. Box 245013, Tucson, AZ 85719 or the National Brain Tumor Foundation (www.braintumorfoundation.org)
