Excerpt from a Los Angeles Times story about UCLA’s rocky start::
What in the name of Gail Goodrich and Walt Hazzard, Lewis Alcindor, the Walton Gang , Nell and John Wooden Court and everything holy in Westwood did I just watch?
That was UCLA basketball?
Losing to Cal State Fullerton and now down 10 to Cal State Bakersfield in the opening half?
Goodness, gracious, sakes alive.
Who’s next, Cal State . . . Channel Islands? San Marcos? Dominguez Hills?
If UCLA has an open date tomorrow, I hear Stanislaus is looking for a game.

the pac-10 is looking more and more wide open.
Cal did not look good at all in NYC. Granted they are missing players and willl presumably pull things together.
From what I have seen Udub is by far the team to beat.
And I think ASU is going to suprise people.
Fourth is still probably a good prediction for us, maybe third.

What annoyed me most about the UCLA game is that it was in HD on FSN Arizona (Cox – Scottsdale). Our games have not been broadcast in HD. Anybody know why? The locally produced football games were, so I assume they have the equipment.
Oh, and UCLA was awful in the first half. Had trouble making perimeter passes without turning it over and had no inside defense. They figured out that they were much bigger than CSUB with about 4 minutes left in the half and turned it around.

Javier
Goazcats reports that Dwayne Polee has opened up his recruitment and did not sign with USC as committed earlier. He is from L.A. area and wants to stay in the West. He has five schools on his list and Arizona is one of them. I see he has five offers including Arizona. He will now sign in the spring. Looks like he can jump with the best of them. Do you have any further knowledge of this recruit?

I can’t believe it’s happening again.
And on this board of all places!
lutefan, before we get too sucked in to this ASWhatajoke! thing and lose all sight of what this early season success means, let’s get a little perspective here.
ASYougottabekiddin’me! was down to TCU at home (of course; where else would Herbert and his boys be in October, November and December?) by 8 with 4 minutes to play.
All the barn stormers from the big, bad WAC had to do was salt the clock away and we wouldn’t even be having this conversation.
And please, let’s keep in mind that there isn’t a San Francisco St. anywhere from Pullman to Tucson in the PAC-10.
There may be one in Tempe, but that’s my point.

lol… I got your point ‘N’ Roses.

Prediction: Duke will clear the bench by midway through the second half.
LSU, after just missing vs. U Conn, will feel like they not only consoled themselves vs. Herbert’s finest but that they also had a second chance at a Gold-Purple (OK Maroon, but oh well…) scrimmage…in NY…on Turkey Day.
Pass the Gumbo.
And I give thanks for: Miller & Co.
And the scheduling of AD Livengood.
Amen.

Oregon State lost to a team today that lost by 30 to Rice. I actually thought that Oregon State would be one of the sleeper teams this year since they were so much better than expected last year.
