Excerpt from Hardwood Houdini blog about Andre Iguodala’s heave against Denver that did not count vs. a similar shot by Boston’s Kevin Garnett last season (includes poll):

The talent in the NBA, and all professional sports for that matter, has reached an all-time high. I know you have the legend lovers who will say Bird, Magic, and Russell are still the better athletes. But in reality, these guys couldn’t compare to the talent level of guys in the NBA today. The physical strength and new style of play in the league would run these legends right out of the gym. Let it be known, I respect the legends of the game but the play back then was completely different then it is today.

The reason I brought up this whole talent thing is because of two unbeliavable shots that I have seen go down in the past month or so. One of the shots was by Kevin Garnett on January 18th against the Golden State Warriors, and the other by Andre Iguodala during last night’s loss against the Denver Nuggets. As you will see in the video’s both of the shots are truly amazing and require strength, talent, and a little bit of luck.

Miller to start Fogg instead of Lavender. I hope this changes things a bit, but I don’t expect a lot from Fogg… We sorely need Bejarano and a true PG (McCallum)!

In an unrelated note, ASU lost to BYU tonight by 13.

Anyone really believe Fogg is that much better than Lavender?

Let’s keep an eye on LTU’s 3 pt. marksman, Gibson, a guy who never saw a 3 pt. shot he didn’t like.

Fogg & Co. know what’s up, yet I bet this Gibson kid scores LTU’s first 6-9 points, all from 3 pt. land, and all in the first 2-3 minutes of action.

A real change might’ve been Judkins for Lavender.

For my money, or indigestion, it’s gotta be…

    PG – Hill
    SG – Judkins
    SF – Shumpert
    PF – Williams
    C – Kyryl

Thanks for the update from the Marriott Center, mikey.

And it looks like Son of Naismith has things lined up nicely once again.

After that little foray into Provo gone asunder, the rest of December and into the very first part of January will be spent in Fargo playing the likes of USC Upstate, whatever that is.

    But do the math.

    Herbert has them at 6-3.

Six plus 4 (non-conference games left) equals, you guessed it, 10.

You add 9 more wins in PAC-10 play, if the chip off the ‘ol peach basket installer can pull it off at home sweet home, and that other team is sitting at 19 wins already.

Will that be enough to keep on Dancing for those other guys?

Or, will Tempe’s Dance Card end at one, single, solitary punch?

1atatime… you’re on crack if you think Judkins is the guy. He got those points in garbage minutes. The story on Judkins was told right before half in Okl when he turned the ball over and then reached in to give the three point play. That is what Judkins does…. stupid mental mistakes. There is a reason why he seldom sees pt.

lutefan: “…turned the ball over and reached in…” is a definite step up from “…stood around and…stood around some more…”

C’mon we’ve all read what Miller has said about this team in regards to defense and scoring.

This team is down and needs a lift.

When you’ve tried everything on the court like Miller has, you motivate them while they’re sitting down…on the bench…next to you…so the teaching moments continue within earshot.

With all due respect to the Legendary “O”ne, you gotta wonder if, in his way later years, he realized what he brougt in when you consider Wise, Horne, Lavender and Fogg are part and parcel of this culture of not listening in a huddle, of not getting it in practice, of not demonstrating in a game that they’re capable of doing what’s asked, what’s needed to compete and win.
