Excerpt from a Washington Times article about Gilbert Arenas’ miss of two late free throws late in the Wizards’ loss to the Pacers:

Gilbert Arenas sat on the bench following a timeout with his team down by a point and one-tenth of a second left on the clock, locked in a trance and not really hearing anything.

For the second straight game, Arenas had blown it. The guard – heralded because of his late-game heroics for the better part of three seasons – had gone to the line with the chance to rescue his team. All he had to do was make two foul shots to give the Wizards a three-point lead over the Indiana Pacers with six seconds left. But after performing his famous ritual of whipping the ball around his waist three times before bouncing it, Arenas clanked the first, and then the second.

I’m still not sure if it’s appropriate to post on the newest topic even though a post might have nothing to do with that thread….

At any rate, this was on Dukie V’s twitter:

NCAA’s longest tourney run 25 years by Arizona will end this year unless a miracle -not Sean Miller’s fault.

I don’t care about the streak anymore. I care about effort, pride, quality basketball and championships. I hope we eventually get to see that from this new phase of Wildcat basketball….

Because as of now, it’s quite depressing.

mikey, where the ‘Cats are concerened, the man who loves Coach K more than anyone (second to Mrs. K, of course), is spot-on, unfortunately.

    And that hurts.

Never thought I’d find myself agreeing with Dookie V about anything hoops-related.

Arizona Basketball will be fine. If not 2010, 2011. Deep gratitude for Russ Pennell holding a sinking ship together. Deep gratitude to Nice Wise for gritting his teeth and coming back to a senior year of hell, i a ship fully submerged underwater being the guide and lifeline on helping pulling it back out

No, the cats will not continue to streak this year (but who know, the Pac is SO bad this year they might actually have a chance to get to 10 games), but the program will rise again. Fortunately, we can focus on the Holiday Bowl for a few more weeks before we have to acknowledge our basketball program.
