At Christmas time, almost three months into the season, Arizona’s NBA contingent should have asked Santa for these gifts of hope:

  • Gilbert Arenas: A continuation of recent play for the Wizards — two straight wins — and continuing the Agent Zero theme instead of the failed quiet Gilbert experiment.
  • Andre Iguodala: Some patience. It will be another long season for the Sixers.
  • Jason Terry: As the link above suggests, Terry wants his shooting touch back. Terry’s shooting percentages (.428 on field goals and .338 on 3-point shots) are by far the worst of his six-season stint in Dallas. He’s averaging 16.4 points per game, a drop of more than three points from last season, when he earned the league’s Sixth Man of the Year honor.

  • Channing Frye: A little more versatility to go with his successful barrage of three-pointers.
  • Richard Jefferson: Improved incorporation into the Spurs’ system and confidence in his ability to take a game over.
  • Mike Bibby: An NBA title? The Hawks are only 2.5 games behind East-leading Boston.
  • Jerryd Bayless: A continuation of extended playing time; his 31-point performance indicates his worth.
  • Chase Budinger: A healthy return from an ankle sprain and spot on NBA All-Rookie Team.
  • Jordan Hill: More opportunities, but we all know of the stubbornness of Mike D’Antoni — ask little-used Nate Robinson.
  • Luke Walton: A healthy return from a back injury and another NBA championship ring.
